Half term crafting May 29, 2008

Half term is here again and I’ve got a load of reports to write! In between the school work I’ve magaged to get on with my ‘Bottoms Up’ top from an old issue of Yarn Forward magazine (I think the pattern might actually be free online via Ravelry?) I’m using Shepherd Baby Wool 4ply in a very bright coral pink, its not exactly my colour but I had the wool in my stash and it fitted the pattern. I think its growing on me anyway, if it turns out like it should it should be a nice top for colder summer days I think. The only thing is that the 40 rows on singel rib are getting a bit tedious!

Other than the knitting I’ve been having a go at needle felting again; this time in 3D. I’ve got a little foam block and a set of felting needles (very sharp!) and a nice big bag of merino roving. It really easy to do, at first it feels like you are just stabbing a ball of fluff, but then suddendly it becomes this shape that you can mould and shape. I’m quite pleased with my first teddy bear, and I’m working on an Alice in Wonderland figure – I’m not showing the face yet as I’m not happy with it. I though it might be nice to make a set of figures from Alice in Wonderland; but then it would be nice to make a lot of things if I had the time!

Anyway, I’m happy to be back to my knitting and I’m looking forward to two swaps that are coming up (UK Swap and the Gluten Free Knitters Swap) Details on Ravelry 🙂

  1. Wow. You’re getting very creative with the needle felting. I really like the sweater pattern, too. I hope it is online somewhere. Off to look now.

  2. Its called ‘Bottoms Up’ by Alice Bell and its available as a free download on Ravelry 🙂
